Today's run was a supposed to be a 5 miles hilly cross country. It wasn't.
I ran one mile to the field at the bottom of Warton Crag where I planned to run up and over for 1.5 miles then come back.
As you might have guessed this didn't happen. I started to run up the field but it was a lot muddier and more slippy than I imagined. I then made it to the bottom on the crag but although this was less muddy, it was very craggy (Who would have guessed?)
So after about half a mile I gave up and ran the rest of the way on good old tarmac.
I will have to scout out some less craggy and muddy places to run for next time. I don't want to slip and break my ankle at this early stage.
Tomorrow it's 12 miles. I will stick to running on the pavement.
