Today was down on the schedule as a cross country run of 6 miles. But even though I live in the country this isn't that easy to do. I find it hard to find a route of that length across fields that doesn't involve travelling some distance before starting and I do prefer to start running close to home.
I decided to run along the canal towpath. The path to south towards Lancaster is made up of loose gravel and is good to run on. But the route I took was north and the gravel soon stops and I am left running on grass instead. Usually.
Today's run, as you may have guessed, was a muddy affair. I don't mind getting splash with it, but the mud does make the running more difficult. On more than one occasion I slipped and feared I might sprain or strain something. But I got round safely and I met a nice Vizsla puppy too.
Tomorrow I run 14miles. My longest distance so far.
